Overview:

This Ansys Nonlinear FEA Training Class is an advanced course focused on teaching the fundamentals of Nonlinear FEA using Ansys Mechanical Workbench. To sign up for this public class, register using the link to the right. For private classes, custom curriculum, or more general information about our classes, please contact us.

Class Objective:

The primary objective of this Ansys Training class is to teach participants Nonlinear FE Analysis in Ansys Mechanical using the Ansys Workbench interface. Thus, upon completion of this course, participants will be able to set up, solve, and diagnose their own Nonlinear Analyses in Ansys Mechanical.

Applicable Software:

Ansys Workbench with the following licenses (or equivalent): Ansys Mechanical Pro, Ansys Mechanical Premium, or Ansys Mechanical Enterprise and a direct connection to Native CAD (Autodesk Inventor, PTC Creo, Solidworks, etc).

Topics Covered:

Overview of the Fundamentals of Nonlinear FEA

Assembly Contact and Friction

Nonlinear material models such as Elasto-Plastic and Hyperelastic.

Time Stepping, Large Deflection, Initial Conditions, and importing actual material test data.

Applications include CNC Machined Components, Ductile Metals, Plastic, Aerospace, Automotive, Consumer Electronics and more!

After this class you will:

The role of Nonlinear FEA in Product Development

Time Management, Troubleshooting, and Gaining Confidence as a Casual Analyst

Best Practices in Analyzing Parts and Assemblies

Communicating with both Qualitative and Quantitative Results Post-processing

Creating Sensors and Utilizing Design Optimization Techniques

How to approach Ductile vs. Brittle materials using FEA

Who Should Attend:

This class is specifically tailored for those with a technical background and prior experience using Ansys Workbench and Analyzing Static Structural FEA. Therefore, an engineering degree is not a prerequisite, however, it is strongly recommended. As always, an open mind, a creative spirit, and a strong Quantitative Comprehension of Mechanics of Materials are necessary!

"

The instructor explained concepts from a background perspective really well, meaning what is actually occurring not simply what buttons to push.

"

Tyler H.

Under large amounts of strain, materials are nonlinear, such as ductile metals (elasto-plastic) and elastomers (hyperelastic).

Frictional contact is nonlinear and mathematically unstable. Understanding Contact Stiffness, and how it is calculated, is critical to getting a stable, accurate solution.
